G & A.G Parkers introduce robots in to the milking process at their farm in Huddersfield.

Farming like many other industries is modernising, with farmers assessing and implementing ways of saving energy and automating daily tasks. G & A.G Parkers of Huddersfield is no different, and called upon Norcroft to assist them, Lely & Melvyn Carr to modernise and create an energy efficient robotic milking parlour.

Norcroft wired the supplies for the 5 robots, automated feeding systems, ice bank, relocated the main supply to the farm and installed a new 3 phase distribution system.

Norcroft were also involved in improving the general lighting throughout the farm buildings so chose to install LED strip & flood lights. In the cow cubicle housing LED low bays were installed and these had to be adjustable, needing to be programmed to dim down 20% between the hours of 12pm and 6pm throughout the building.

Andrew Parker of G & A.G Parkers commented, “We wanted to improve our parlour productivity whilst also improving the lighting in the cow shed and parlour. Working with Philip and the team at Norcroft we now have a fantastic robotic milking parlour and energy efficient lighting which is helping to reduce the farm’s energy bills. Philip and his team have been extremely professional throughout all the works and I wouldn’t hesitate to use the Norcroft team again in the future.”

Philip Mosley, Norcroft Energy Managing Director added “It’s been great working with the team at G & A.G Parkers on their new robotic milking parlour. The robotic system provides the farm with an automated system that they can leave to run whilst completing other tasks. The LED lighting we installed, will make a huge difference to not only the light quality within the cow shed and milking parlour but also to the farms electricity bills and carbon footprint.”
