Electricity prices are on the rise
As SSE and Powergen announce they will be raising their gas and electricity prices, fears grow that other providers will soon follow suit.
SSE, formerly Scottish and Southern Energy, have announced they will raise gas and electricity prices by 8.2% from 15th November 2013. Since, Powergen has also announced that it is to increase electricity and gas prices on 5th January 2014. Both site higher wholesale costs as a major factor. Will the top 6 follow suit?
We have already seen a significant increase to energy prices over the last few years. Now autumn has arrived and winter looms, it is very apparent how concerned people are about their energy bills setting to rise for yet another year.
How can you stop these ever increasing bills?
Firstly, look at your existing electricity supplier. Are they giving you the best deal? Is it worth switching to another supplier? When you’re confident you’ve found the best deal, see if they will let you fix it for a period of time. This will give you the confidence that your bills won’t increase again during that period.
Secondly, consider renewable technology which will not only help you reduce your energy bills but can also help you benefit from the government incentive schemes such as the Green Deal and RHI. By carrying out a site specific survey, we can recommend ways in which you can adapt your property to save money this winter. Whether this is by switching to LED lighting, installing a voltage optimisation unit or generating your own electricity through solar PV technology, there are many ways in which you can take control of your energy bills and put a stop to those rising costs each year.
