Emley & Penistone Show 2014
It was great to see so many familiar faces at this years Emley Show and Penistone Show. We hope everyone enjoyed a nice family day out. Here’s a quick round-up.
Solar PV and Solar Thermal were of particular interest at the shows this year. It was also common that not many people were aware of the new Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive so it was great to be able to bring people up to speed with the additional financial incentive now available to those who heat their homes using renewable sources.
Solar PV
Solar PV technology converts energy from the sun into electricity using a Photovoltaic process. The stronger the sunshine, the more electricity is produced. We continue to install solar systems in homes and businesses throughout Yorkshire as more and more customers see the benefits. While FIT rates have been reduced, the cost of installing solar panels has also fallen. And with energy prices continuing to rise it is still a sound financial investment. Read more
Solar Thermal
Solar thermal panels are a highly efficient technology that is fitted to your roof. All solar panels have tubes containing a heat transfer fluid that circulates around the system and is heated by the Sun. Energy from the heat transfer fluid is transferred to a store of hot water via a coil heat exchanger inside the hot water cylinder. Temperature sensors in the collector and in the hot water cylinder help to regulate the temperature of the stored hot water and ensure that the maximum efficiency is attained by the system. Read more
Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
Many visitors were not aware of the new Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which was launched in April – A government financial incentive which will pay residents who heat their homes using renewable sources. As well as saving money on your energy bills by turning to renewable energy, you now have the added benefit of this new financial incentive. Read more
Automatic Solar Switch
Another hot topic of conversation at the show was the automatic solar switch. This switch is a new system now available to existing solar pv customers. The system is designed so that the excess power that would normally be exported to the grid is channelled to the immersion heater – maximising return on investment.
