Electric Vehicles support Clean Air campaign
The importance of switching to electric vehicles has been highlighted in a report into the dangerous levels of air pollution in children’s sports grounds. More than 28% of these sports grounds have dangerous air pollution (www.telegraph.co.uk) putting young athletes at risk by affecting their ability to play sports and keep fit. The Air Team is calling for sports organisations, MPs, schools and athletes to back its Breathe GB campaign for robust legislation to cut air pollution and boost British sport, especially in London. Road transport accounts for around half of the capital’s air pollution (london.gov.uk) but it is being tackled with Clean Air Zones and encouraging the use of electric vehicles with recharging points. Electric vehicles produce no carbon dioxide, so they allow cleaner air quality and are expected to reduce harmful road transport emissions by 45% in just 2 years.
